Erriba RISE
Erriba Rise is a luxury well-known conservation property located in the small tranquil Tasmanian highland community of Erriba. It is a 30-minute drive to the World Heritage Cradle Mountain National Park and a 45-minute drive to the coastal towns of Ulverstone, Devonport and La Trobe. The views of the three Mountains – Roland, Van Dyke and Claude, the Forth Valley and Lake Cethana are spectacular and ever changing. There are also distant views of many of Tasmania’s highest peaks including the Walls of Jerusalem, Mt Ossa and beyond.
Erriba Rise with its extensive 76-acre native parkland sits on the edge of the Cradle Mountain alpine plateau. From the top of the Erriba Escarpment lush bushland tumbles through natural terraces into the glacially formed Forth valley revealing ancient hexagonal basalt columns. The ecologically rich soil supports trees over 400 years old, poa and wallaby grasslands as well as a boundary line of native trees and shrubs that provides privacy and protection from the westerly winds.
The four distinct seasons bring a changing mood and colour to the beauty of the property.
The north-east facing house was sustainably built and completed 10 years ago. It is quiet with floor to ceiling window views from most rooms. Underfloor heating provides warmth in winter, and it is well ventilated in summer. Erriba Rise is an ideal location for the gathering of family and friends. The generous kitchen, larder and separate meal preparation space make entertaining easy. Guests have the privacy of their own rooms and bathrooms. The proximity to Cradle Mountain National Park creates a great base to explore the north-west of Tasmania.
Erriba Rise has one of Tasmania’s earliest conservation covenants that protects in perpetuity the pristine wet sclerophyll/rain forest sloping down the Forth valley, the basalt columns and a unique perched winter wetland that supports lemon bottlebrush, tea trees and a variety of mosses and lichens. A two-kilometre rock-lined walking track, The Enchanted Way, winds past the spectacular basalt cliff line, the wetlands, huge man ferns and open native grasslands. The area around the house is outside the covenanted area and includes a fenced vegetable garden, glasshouse, garden shed and enclosed chicken yard. A short walk up the paddock takes you to a self-contained cabin, a croquet court, three well stocked woodsheds and a secured workshop.
